Brassler, M. (2024). Students’ Digital Competence Development in the Production of Open Educational Resources in Education for Sustainable Development. Sustainability (Basel, Switzerland), 16(4), 1674-. https://doi.org/10.3390/su16041674

Summary: This study investigated the effect of OER creation, in this case digital scripts and videos on various topics related to sustainable development(SD), on the digital competencies of the students. The study found students who created OER ended up with higher digital competencies than those participating in SD courses without the same OER creation activities. The author discusses some of the difficulties educators might encounter in executing a similar course, like a feeling of loss of control, lack of technical expertise in video production, and lack of expertise in interdisciplinary peer learning.
